The submerged temples of Sambalpur are a collection of ancient temples in Odisha, India, that were flooded when the Hirakud Dam was built between 1952 and 1956. While some sources suggest over 200 or even 350 temples were submerged, many have been destroyed over the decades. Around 50 of the remaining temples become visible during the summer when the water level in the dam recedes. A notable example is a Shiva temple at the mouth of the IB River, near the Rampela Bridge.
