ATL Overview

Atal Tinkering Labs, initiated by NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), provide schools with up to ₹20 lakhs in grants for hands-on STEM learning spaces. Schools must dedicate 1,500 sq. ft. (or 1,000 sq. ft. in hilly areas) of well-ventilated space equipped with internet, power, and safety features like fire extinguishers.​
AIM approves applications via their portal, followed by equipment procurement from GEM-registered vendors like Indian Hobby Center within three months.​

Setup Requirements

Essential infrastructure includes tables, chairs, storage, and computers for design software. Key equipment covers ATL packages P1 to P4:

• P1: Electronics, robotics, IoT kits, sensors.​
• P2: 3D printers, rapid prototyping tools.​
• P3: Mechanical, electrical, measurement tools.​
• P4: Safety protocols and a dedicated ATL in-charge teacher are mandatory.​
