It was this spirit of oneness that helped thefather of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi to unite the people of Indiaas one force during the freedom struggle. And it is this spiritthat still holds India as a Nation. We must remember that it is the concept of oneness thatmakes our nation a great power in the world. And this unity of thenation is an indispensable factor for the socio-economicdevelopment and progress of the nation. However, since independence, there has been parochialanti-national and communcal activities, which disrupted not onlythe unity and integrity of India but also the nation buildingprocess. Over the years, as a result of the unhealthy politics,these narrow anti-national activities got intensified and is todaycroding the nationhood of India. As a progressive nation with agreat tradition and civilisation deep-rooted in the spirit onenessof man and having its own identity and image in the world, wecannot tolerate anti-national and communcal activities which arelikely to tarnish, the image of one nation one people concept. Itis, therefore, essential that every Indian should rise to theoccasion and work for the unity and integrity of India. With a view of strengthen the unity and integrity of Indiaand to project the image of one nation one people better than ever,every citizen should carry on the message of unity and brotherhood.We have to ensure that an 'Indian spirit' is prevailing everywherein our motherhood.
