A Cry From The Wild is the story of two small African elephants, victims of poaching, who were rescued and brought to Daphne Sheldrick’s Nairobi home – a sanctuary for orphans just half an hour from the city centre.

In telling their story, Lissa Ruben gives an insight into the complexity of the elephants’ world: from birth, the way in which they raise their young, the special relationships formed in an elephant’s life and the mysticism surrounding their behaviour towards the dead.

In doing so, she highlights how extraordinary the elephant is and what man is extinguishing simply to own a tiny piece of ivory.
