The old man was no storyteller. Under the pressure of his first grandson, he became one. He started by telling stories from the epic Ramayana. Soon he met with serious pitfalls, like when he tells the young boy that Dasharatha had three wives, the child asks why he himself had only one wife. He tells the child that only Muslims are permitted to have more than one wife. The child concludes that Dasharatha was a Muslim and consequently so was Ramachandra. How dangerous! The child announces that he will become a Muslim so that he could have four wives. Other grandchildren strongly resented the idea of Jatayu getting killed by Ravana. Jatayu was a good bird. They took him to a doctor who cures him and the bird flies away. They even objected to Ravana being killed by Rama and insisted that both should become friends. Gradually, they introduced themselves into the epic and became friends with Rama, Ravana, Sita, Hanuman and other characters. Soon they introduced mobile phones, aeroplanes, and helicopters etc into the epic. The youngest grand-daughter introduced ‘Pokemon’ and ‘Digimon’ into the epic. Later she included Trigon, tiger, seal and walrus to weave completely new stories. Inspired by the prolific minds of his grandchildren, storytelling had become a thrilling experience for the old man.
