About the Book The present edition provides a description of linguistic phenomena that determines behavior of communicative interaction. It is my belief that this can only be done by placing linguistic interaction in relation to human action and interaction, especially cooperation, in general. About the Author C.M. Burger is a professor of Linguistics in Faculty of Arts, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam. He was the founders of psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics. His highly productive career included contributions to social and cross-cultural psychology, language education, and bilingualism. Indeed, because of the scope and influence of his work, Burger is widely considered as one of the leading scholars of linguistic behavior.
