Gandhi was reluctant to 'talk about' religion, except when pressed by close friends to do so. Taking off from some of her own academic work about religion, the author shows how Gandhi was at grips in a very practical way with problems which others had treated intellectually. She finds that Gandhi's involvement with political struggles speaks directly to our own condition in a profound and pointed manner, almost as if he were living at this hour.
