Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art encompasses a diverse range of artistic expressions from various Asian cultures, with notable developments including the Bengal School of Art in India, the Progressive Artists' Group in Mumbai, and major contributions from contemporary artists such as Ai Weiwei, Cai Guo-Qiang, and Pacita Abad. This art form often reflects socio-political issues, cultural identity, and globalisation, utilizing both traditional techniques and modern mediums like video and found objects. Major art institutions and auction houses, like Christie's, play a role in collecting, promoting, and selling works within this category.
