Historiography is the study of how history is written, interpreted, and recorded. Instead of studying past events directly, you study the changing perspectives, biases, and methodologies of the historians who wrote about them. It is essentially "the history of history".

An Introduction to Historiography The beginnings of systematic Historiography were made in thefirst decade of the nineteenth century when surveys were carriedout in South India and subsequently in Assam, Bengal, and Bihar.The reports of the survey were presented in the second decade ofthe century and form the basis of most contemporary researches inIndia. The significance of methods and Methodology inhistoriography has been stressed in the concepts and Theories ofseveral well-known scholars in the field.
